Client Care Specialist

Cristina

Client Care Specialist Cristina enjoys working with people and with animals. She cites the great atmosphere, wonderful staff and clients, and great doctors as the chief reasons she enjoys working at West Suburban Veterinary Associates. She holds a bachelor's degree in public health from Northern Illinois University and has worked as an intern at Chicago 's renowned Shedd Aquarium. She has also done volunteer work with local animal shelters. When she's not helping care for clients and their pets, she enjoys time with her family, including her dog Lacey, and reading.

Laura

Laura joined the WSVA team as a Client Care Specialist in 2010. She enjoys welcoming our clients, and seeing the friendly faces of their pets. She feels that the most gratifying part of the job is being able to work with such a dedicated staff. Laura loves to spend quality time with her husband, two children, and the family's two shelter puppies, Marley and Thor.

Pattie

Chicago-native Pattie joined the WSVA team as a Client Care Specialist in March 2014, however she is not new to the veterinary field as she has also worked as a veterinary assistant and a veterinary technician. "I have stayed in the field for 18 years because I love what I do," Pattie says. "I love the interaction between people, their pets, and the community." Joining the WSVA team was the right decision for me, I love working with this great team of dedicated doctors and staff." She is the mother of two grown children and grandmother to two girls. In her personal time she enjoys dog-related sports including Obedience, Agility, Rally, and she will soon add Nose Work to her repertoire. She loves her 8-year-old German shepherd, Varo; 5-year-old English shepherd, Jersey ; and 1-year-old Labrador Phoebe.

Karen

Karen joined the WSVA staff in 2014 as a Client Care Specialist. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in elementary education from the University of Illinois , and her Master of Education-Administration degree from Northern Illinois University . Karen says, "I love the pets I get to meet while working at WSVA, as well as the wonderful people I work with and the high quality of care we provide." In her personal time she likes to spend time with her three teenage children, her two Golden Retrievers Chloe and Gabby, and to cook, read, and work in her garden.
Barbara Blackburn, Receptionist

Barb

A Client Care Specialist since 2006, Barb sought a career in the veterinary field after her retirement as an educator. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education at Illinois State University and her Master's Degree at National Louis University . "I love to work with pets, and I very much enjoy being part of the family-like atmosphere among the staff at the hospital, who provide such excellent care." Barb says. Barb and her husband like to spend their free time traveling, golfing, and trying new restaurants.
